This is how tech companies work to attract female STEM talent

Fighting the gender gap in tech companies is one of the biggest challenges in the business sector. Human resources departments are working hard to equalise the presence of men and women in STEM positions and are demanding the commitment of society as a whole in a field where there is still a long way to go.

Only 35% of women worldwide are enrolled in so-called STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) careers. The figure comes from a recent UNESCO report and demonstrates the huge gender inequality in the field of science and technology. In the case of Spain, the situation is even more worrying, according to the Ministry of Education. Not only has the number of women enrolled in these studies fallen (a drop of 28% between 2010 and 2017), but the gender gap in the technology sector persists. A real challenge for tech companies, whose demand for these professional profiles both in Spain and in the rest of Europe is unstoppable.
