Valencia City Council has activated a plan to free itself from the last vestige of ‘heavy industry’ that remains in the entire consolidated urban centre of the autonomous capital: the Vara de Quart industrial estate. Born in the 1960s to meet the needs for industrial space that arose after the implementation of the southern plan, the industrial activity that its 59 hectares house has been declining over time and the gradual change of the production model in favour of the service sector.
Although many companies are still in operation, many others have progressively abandoned the sector and the Town Planning Department wants to take advantage of this inertia to completely reconvert this large bag of land in the city.
