Sharing a car with a stranger is already a standard situation for many drivers and travellers, who have become accustomed to saving costs on their journeys through the movement known as carpooling. Although the most recognisable company in Spain when thinking about this model is Blablacar, focused on long distances, the Valencian startup Journify has been a pioneer in offering a similar service but with daily journeys, a niche that was not yet covered.
Their first target customer was the university, where thousands of students come daily to the centres by car and could save more than 1,000 euros a year if they shared their vehicle with other people going to the same destination. “Journify is born out of necessity. The founding partners live outside Valencia, in different municipalities, and when we traveled we spent a lot on gasoline or time on public transport,” explains Ignacio Zaballos, Road Engineer and CEO of Journify.
