The Valencian firm Greenb2e, which participated in the third edition of Bankia Fintech by Innsomnia in 2018, has begun to export the ‘tokenization’ of CO2 rights after the success obtained in its first photovoltaic project in the city of Argamasilla de Alba, as reported yesterday in this newspaper. It is a model where diesel engines have been replaced by photovoltaic panels to provide electric power to pumps for water extraction for irrigation of farms, which has received funding from the Valencian company Colectual through participatory loans (‘crowdlending’) in which about thirty investors have contributed 40,000 euros.
This project will allow to value the CO2 emissions avoided by changing the diesel oil for solar panels and, using the ‘blockchain’ technology, create a ‘token’ -a unit of value- for each ton of CO2 that is avoided to throw into the atmosphere. In this way companies can offset their emissions with the purchase of these ‘tokens’ where buyers and sellers have the ability to carry out transactions.
